The v1.1.6 INSTALL file still suggests `make release`, although this fails, and a simple `make` is what is truly required.
If it would be possible to flag my account[rememberpol] for SVN write, I could help take care of such mundane issues. (As well as help with development related to Debian GNU/Linux, as I see you have Microsoft/Apple covered quite nicely)
